2001-Up Club Car IQ - Curtis 500-Amp Controller

$994.00
SKU: 996

The Curtis 500-amp controller for 2001-Up Club Car IQ is the workhorse speed-upgrade controller for IQ-system Club Cars. It replaces the factory 350-amp controller, raises the current ceiling, and — paired with the right motor — pushes a stock 48V Club Car IQ from the factory-governed 14–15 mph up to roughly 23 mph on stock tires. Adapter harness is included so the kit drops into the factory IQ wire loom without splicing.

Compatibility

  • Club Car IQ system carts (DS, Precedent, and IQ derivatives) — 2001 through Current
  • 48-volt electric drivetrain
  • Designed to be used with Nivel motor #7177 only — pairing with the stock motor will not unlock the speed gain and may cause heat-related faults on long hills
  • 5K-Ohm throttle pot box (factory IQ pedal is compatible)

Features & specs

  • 500-amp continuous output (versus 350A stock)
  • Curtis-engineered controller — the same brand the OEM ships in higher-spec IQ packages
  • Adapter wire harness included — plugs into the factory IQ wiring with no cutting
  • Controller dimensions: 9" x 7" x 3"
  • Compatible with regen braking on IQ-equipped carts

Installation notes

This is a speed-upgrade kit, not a stock swap — running this controller against a stock motor will produce noticeable heat soak on hills longer than a quarter mile and can prematurely cook the windings. Plan to install the 7177 motor at the same time, or schedule the motor swap before bolting the controller in. Disconnect the pack negative before touching anything 48V. Run heavier 4-gauge battery cables and a heavy-duty solenoid (Nivel #30912) for maximum performance and durability under the higher current draw. After install, the IQ system needs a programming pass via the OBC tool to recognize the new controller; without programming, you will get a "C-08" or similar diagnostic code.
