A speed controller varistor is the surge-protection component that shields an E-Z-GO controller from voltage spikes. It clamps the transient spikes that occur every time the solenoid opens and closes, keeping them from reaching the controller's electronics. A failed or missing varistor leaves the controller exposed — and a controller is far more expensive to replace than this part.
Compatibility
- E-Z-GO electric golf carts — verify your model year against the varistor before ordering
- Direct cross-reference to E-Z-GO OEM part number 25949G01 (also listed CON-024 RH)
- Fits resistor-coil and early electronic E-Z-GO speed control circuits
Features & specs
- OEM-spec varistor for the E-Z-GO speed control circuit
- Clamps voltage transients before they reach the controller
- Factory terminal style for a direct-fit replacement
- Low-cost protection for a high-cost controller
Installation notes
Disconnect the battery pack at the main first. The varistor mounts in the speed control circuit near the controller and solenoid; mark the leads before removing the old one so the replacement goes back the same way. If the original varistor failed shorted, it can take the controller with it — test the controller before assuming the varistor swap alone restored the cart. Cross-reference the wiring in our EZGO schematics library if you are unsure of the circuit.
