2000-08 Club Car IQ DS-Precedent - Curtis 500-Amp Controller

$749.98
SKU: 985

The Curtis 500-amp controller for 2000-08 Club Car IQ (DS and Precedent) is the stock-motor-friendly upgrade controller for first-generation IQ-system Club Cars. Unlike higher-amp kits that require a matched motor, this controller is engineered to push a stock Club Car motor to its useful current ceiling — gaining torque and a top speed of about 23 mph on stock tires without forcing a motor swap. It replaces Club Car part number 1510A and a handful of related variants.

Compatibility

  • Club Car DS (IQ) electric, 2000 through 2008
  • Club Car Precedent (IQ) electric, 2000 through 2008
  • 48-volt electric drivetrain
  • Designed to be used with Nivel motor #3258, #3294, or the stock motor — this is the Curtis controller you pick if you do not want to replace the motor at the same time
  • Best for non-lifted carts, light-duty lifted carts, stretched 6-passenger conversions, and industrial-use IQ carts

Features & specs

  • 500-amp continuous output (versus 350A stock)
  • Replaces Club Car PN 1510A and equivalents
  • Curtis-engineered controller with adapter harness included
  • Up to 23 mph on stock tires with stock motor
  • Controller dimensions: 9" x 7" x 3"

Installation notes

This kit is the "do not need to swap the motor" Curtis option, but you still need to upsize the cables and solenoid to actually realize the current jump — running 6-gauge OEM cables against 500A is the most common reason a Curtis upgrade feels "the same" after install. Run 4-gauge cables (Nivel #1259 or #1260) and a heavy-duty solenoid (Nivel #30912). Disconnect the pack negative before touching the controller. Mount the new controller in the OEM location, connect the adapter harness, and run an OBC programming pass so the IQ system recognizes the 500A current map — without programming, you may see a "C-08" code or fall back to stock current limits.
