The OEM pre-charge resistor assembly that lets your 2008-and-newer EZGO RXV controller power up without arcing the contactor — when this fails, the cart shows fault codes and refuses to move.
The RXV controller uses a small resistor mounted between the battery pack and the main contactor to bleed inrush current as the controller capacitors charge. It's a wear part that ages out from heat cycling — and because it's inexpensive, technicians often replace it preemptively any time the contactor or controller is being serviced. Skip the third-party knockoffs; this is the OEM-spec Nivel-distributed assembly used in EZGO service kits.
Compatibility
- EZGO RXV — Electric — 2008 to current model year
- Fits all RXV trim levels: Freedom, Shuttle, S4, 2Five, and the commercial/industrial variants built on the same drivetrain
- Does NOT fit EZGO TXT, Marathon, Medalist, or RXV gas — see our EZGO schematics page for the correct part for those platforms
What's in the Kit
- Pre-charge resistor with integrated leads
- OEM connector terminations sized for the RXV controller harness
- Mounting tab compatible with the factory bracket
Key Features
- Fault-code fixer: The most common cause of "no movement / no error display" symptoms on 2008-up RXVs is a degraded pre-charge resistor — replacing this is the cheapest no-go diagnosis to rule out.
- OEM-spec build: Correct resistance value and power rating — generic ohm-substitutes will overheat and fail in months.
- Direct fit: Drop-in replacement, no harness modification.
- Service-life-rated: Built to the same heat cycling spec as the original EZGO factory part.
Installation Notes
Plan 30-45 minutes for the swap. Tow/run switch off, key out, main negative disconnected. The resistor sits inside the controller compartment on the driver-side rear under the seat. Photograph the wiring before unplugging. Re-torque the controller cover bolts to spec when reassembling — over-tightening cracks the housing. After install, key on and confirm the dash powers up; if fault codes persist, the next failure point is usually the contactor itself.
Need an RXV diagnostic instead of a parts gamble? Our mobile techs scan the EZGO PDS controller on-site and can confirm which part is actually failing before you swap anything. Book the mobile golf cart service or call (951) 580-9822.
